We had a dinner party on both tuesday and wednesday nights. Tuesday nights dinner party was just a casual family affair but wednesday night was much more formal. It was to uphold an age old tradition. Im not too sure of the story but it is to celebrate the 7th day of the year and is meant to bring luck and good fortune.
The tradition envolves slicing open a pomegranate fruit, then you take nine of the fleshy seeds and put them in your glass. No one told me it was meant to be a glass of wine in which the seeds would float, they sank in my caprioska. You then chew the flesh off three of the seeds and wrap them in foil with a coin. This you are meant to keep to bring you good fortune. You then chew the flesh off another 3 seeds and then throw them over your shoulder into the garden or off the balcony while making a wish, mine landed in the water fountain, oops! The remaining 3 seeds stayed in my glass a while but I think you are meant to eat them to finalize the tradition or something.
A photographer was there to capture the evening and it was written about in the local paper the following day.
Now its time to go out to a restaurant for dinner. Yumm!
