  Step 2 week 2

Ive been sick the last few days, run down with a fever and feeling like death. Its finally starting to let go and im becoming human again. By this time tomorrow I should be at 100%. Ive been trying to take it easy, going to bed relatively early and sleeping in as much as possible. Dosing up on medication and drinking heaps of water.

The end of the first week saw many new friends leaving, going back home or continuing their journeys. Its always nice to meet new people but they never seem to compare to the previous lot. The hostel seems to have quietened down a bit since all the familiar faces have left and the new ones just arrived. I guess by this time next week a similar process will have occured all over again.

Yesterday I went on Jeffs walking tour. Jeff is one of the hostel staff members. We walked down Ocean drive all the way to the end and then up Lincoln and then down Washington all the way back to the hostel.

The path we followed is in the heart of the Art Deco district. All the buildings are painted funky colours and have an artsy look about them. Apparently the buildings were designed to look like ships and often have windows that look like portholes.

At various places Jeff gave us some info about; the history of certain buildings; the locations of some classic movies such as Scarface; and about the various celebrities that frequent the area. We passed many designer outlets, heaps of starbuck cafes andmany fancy hotels including the one that has been voted the coolest hotel in the world. I forget the name of it.

The tour was good fun and it was great to get out for a walk and go places I havnt yet explored. The only downside here is the cold weather! Its been getting cooler the last few days, like a spring day back home, about 20 degrees, clear skies with a chilly wind.

For dinner Jess, my roomie, drove 5 of us in her Toyota Avalon to the small town of Jupiter, just over an hour away. We ate at the Ale House which is a typical american style sports bar. There were easily 30 tv screens plastering the walls and one huge bar in the center. The servings were gigantic and the food, delicious!

Im looking forward to the following week, hopefully I will be fully recovered from my ills, though it seems everyone else is still sick or getting sick. I hope to have learnt how to do an ollie as I bought a skateboard the other day. Good times ahead...
