  Edinburgh 101

My plan has been to stay in Edinburgh until Costa Rica in May, and I was thinking of staying here with Lucy for the whole time. But after less than a week I already made a reservation for a hostel. One reason is because I feel like I am intruding a bit. Lucy is happy for me to stay with her but there is just something about me that I don’t feel comfortable staying at someone’s house for more than a week or so. I can’t really recall when I’ve ever stayed at someone’s house for more than a week before, so I don’t know why I get that feeling. Also I miss the hostel life! As crazy as that sounds. In a hostel when you get bored you just hang out in the common room and meet new people, share a few drinks and just chill. I guess it’s all the characters you get to meet that I miss the most.  Hmmm<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The past week I have been slowly job hunting, looking for bar work, applying online. I took a walk into the city and applied for a job at Browns Bar & Brassiere on George St. George St as far as I can tell is the busiest street in the city and is full of bars and pubs. I got a call back from Browns later that night and went in today for an interview. It went well but I don’t think I’ll get the job. I'm much better suited to clubs than to pubs or restaurants. Time will tell.

Each day has been relatively similar. I wake late after lunch time, fold up the futon, have a shower, breakfast on the couch watching TV, check emails and new job posts then decide what to do with the rest of the day. My nights are the same too but in the reverse order. I try and find something decent to cook for dinner which I eat on the couch watching TV, I switch off the box, surf the net and chat to Leire, then unfold the futon and pass out.

Im stealing the wifi connection from another apartment, from a floor or two below is my guess because if im not sitting in the right place it cuts out! For example if I sit with the lappy on my lap then it constantly cuts out. But if I put the lappy next to me on a cusion then its much more reliable. It took a while to figure this out and as a result I've watched a few moofkies, but Lucy's DVD collection is 90% chick flicks! Terrible! Ive considered finding out who's internet connection it is and complaining about how bad it is!

My days have been filled with eating food, walking up the hill into the city to apply for jobs or just look around, going for runs along the river and practising my ollie at the end of the street. This is a nice city however bored I may be, and although it's too cold for me to consider living here for any real length of time I'm still really enjoying it.
