  1st Week Townsville

It seems like a long time ago since I was offered a place at JCU. But its only been just over a month!
December flew by faster than expected. I knew it would fly by but gone already?! Traveling around with Leire is always great fun and our month together in December was awesome!

I arrived in Townsville just 3 days ago after two short flights, from Perth then Brisbane. Stepping outside from the airport after having bought a ticket for the shuttle to the hotel, I was greeted with a wave of muggy hot air and a lush green landscape. It immediately reminded me of the airport in Manaus where I spent a week in the Amazon. The only real difference being that English is the prime language here.

My first night I spent in a quiet hotel, watching some movie about a girl who dies during a modeling ...

  On becoming Vegan

Following is my reply on a vegsoc.org.au forum entitled 'Why did you become a vegan/vegetarian?' which can be viewed here -> http://www.vegsoc.org.au/forum_messages.asp?Thread_ID=2497&Topic_ID=1

Giving up dairy was no hard task. I've never liked milk or eggs as they give me a headache and make me feel ill.
Giving up meat was a progressive thing, I call it my healthy eating evolution.
As a child I hated veggies with dinner especially dads stew. My brothers and I would stab our forks into our bowls of 'mush' and cheer when we struck meat or potato gold.

On meeting vegetarians I would think to myself, 'I understand its not right to kill animals for food, but if I dont eat it (now that its packaged) then it's going to waste and that really is cruel'.

My favourite meal was a juicy steak covered in bbq sauce, which I would eat ...

  Stinky Man

The morning commute to work is usually uneventful and easy. This morning I was expecting the same. There I was plugged into my iPod while reading through the unfolding events of my crime novel, all seats where filled except the one to my right. The train came to another routine stop that usually goes by unnoticed, except for that smell. What was that smell? Some one sits next to me as my nose twitches. The scent becomes a pungent stench and I look to my right. An old man with wooly greys has taken the free spot and is looking aimlessly about the cabin. His distant gaze coupled with his ragged look make me guess he's taken the plunge into being cenile. The stench eminating from his clothes is intense! It smells like BO that's been dried out and sprayed with a mix of cat urine and beer, then dried out again. ...

  Aaargh!

Im in the process of trying to restore my website. It's proving difficult.
While in Costa Rica lazing on a secluded beach with Leire, my laptop was stolen from Jimmy our 4WD.
Not only did I loose all of my website data, I alos lost all of my photos & videos from travelling the last 6 months!
Thankfully I uploaded most of my photos to my site, the only problem is that they are a reduced size and quality.
Its going to take a while to get the site back to how it was...

  This is the end

It has been a week since returning from Costa Rica but it feels like months! Time is dragging along and im getting more and more bored. The good thing about this is that I'am ready to return home. Today I called up American Airlines and changed my flight. So I no longer have to kill another week here in dreary London because now, im leaving on Monday! Thats 3 days away! Crazy!
I almost wish I had a few extra days but to be honest I wouldnt get anything done that I havent already done, or see anything I havent already seen. So I'd just be spending more money...

The start of this week was full of sunshine and warm weather. I spent as much time as possible lazing about in Hyde Park soaking up the sun and reading my book, 'Extacy' by Irvine Welsh. Ive been trying to buy healthy organic ...
